SUV or Truck?

When you want a tough vehicle, there are two major options. You can choose an SUV, or you can choose a truck. Which option is right for you? It all depends on what you're looking for. With SUVs like the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango, and the Dodge Journey, or with trucks like the Ram 1500, you have plenty of choices.

Pickup trucks are the best at carrying and towing cargo. No matter how tough an SUV is, it pales in comparison to a pickup truck. If you need a vehicle to tow a boat or a trailer, or if you need to carry heavy equipment around, pickup trucks are the clear choice. On the other hand, trucks can be difficult to maneuver, especially in urban environments. They're also less fuel-efficient than SUVs, and increasing the seating in your truck decreases the size of its bed.

SUVs are more varied than trucks, ranging from subcompact models to three-row family haulers. SUVs give you less engine power than trucks, but they usually have more than sedans or minivans. SUVs are much better for carrying people. Trucks can usually seat between three to five people, depending on the model and configuration; SUVs can seat between five to eight. SUVs are more maneuverable than trucks, and frequently get better gas mileage.
